Flexible acid resistant epoxy used as external coating of major process tankage
AB Chem has a flexible acid resistant epoxy suitable for the external coating of process tanks subject to overflows and acidic environments.
Our product exhibits the following characteristics;
- high flexibility – allowing them to cope with possible surface cracking, deflection and vibration.
- outstanding chemical resistance – allowing them to cope with spills of hot process liquor containing acid and other aggressive chemicals.
- toughness – suited to the rigors of everyday life at a mine site, often in hot arid environments.
All these characteristics are important for process tanks, as well as the proven track record in a similar environments.
This durable coating is often used for protection of concrete surfaces subject to severe chemical attack and mechanical loadings (forklifts, cranes etc). However it also has the ability to be reformulated by AB Chem so that it can be applied by plural mix airless spray equipment – this allows the material to be applied rapidly with minimum cure time. Many traditional paint coatings are batch mixed and their cure time is limited by the practicalities of ‘pot life’.
Plural mix airless spray applied coatings minimises the overall job execution and cure times and thus the time before which the coating can be subject to service duty – a very important consideration during critical mine shutdown activities.
